Jonathan Wright
For 33 years I’ve been a part of the ballooning community starting as a crew member. In 2005 I became a LTA pilot and joined the competition community as member in the Top Gun Competition club in Albuquerque, NM in 2012.
In 2014 I became an HACD member and have competed in the US Nationals every year since then. When I am not on the road competing, I am at home in Phoenix flying ride balloons full time. I have close to 2000 hours logged in balloons in the past 17 years. I guess it goes without saying that I am very passionate about ballooning. I qualified and competed, representing the US, in the FAI World Hot Air Balloon Championships in 2016 and 2018. I was awarded HACD top pilot in 2019 and am hopeful to receive that honor again this year. I was one of the early adopters of Ozi Target in the US and I am interested in seeing competition ballooning evolve and continue to grow and develop to make our sport better and stronger. I am excited to see the development and integration of the new Balloon Live system. I think this is the next big step in advancing balloon competition and opens great opportunities for expanding the audience for our sport.
In addition to my ballooning experience, I have board of director experience, having served on a few different boards over the years, I am familiar with the general rules and procedures of how boards run and how they are supposed to run. I have been involved in HACD matters in the past, participating as an involved member of the community, and want to make all your voices heard to the board. I was asked to take on the role of West Region Director and would like to represent you as a West Region HACD member. I will represent your concerns and input to the board and do my best to help make the HACD better for all of us.
