Jeremy Rubin, INCUMBENT

My name is Jeremy Rubin and I am a hot-air balloon pilot from Ankeny, IA. I am seeking re-election as the incumbent North Central Regional Director on the BFA HACD Board of Directors.

As an Iowan, I’ve benefited greatly from the strong community of balloonists and significant number of competition opportunities held each year in the surrounding Midwest. Being introduced to hot-air ballooning as a six-year-old kid, I became a fan of the competition side of ballooning first, which held my interest throughout all of the early mornings as a crew person and eventually motivated me to complete my license and dive into competing. This nearly life-long experience has been a great gift to me and my family and I am eager to continue to give back to the sport that has given me so much.

Attending numerous events each season for 20+ years as a pilot and building relationships with both event directors, organizers and sponsors has given me an invaluable insight into what the staff and communities of these events go through to not only make them successful but keep them “open for business” year in and year out. My interactions with other HACD card holders give me a direct channel for feedback and ideas from the pilot community. The high level resources the HACD can provide these events and their participating pilots is key in both the maintenance of the organization’s current health and the future growth our sport needs.

If re-elected to this role, I would work to continue the overall positive momentum the HACD has developed through recent initiatives like the continued integration of the Balloon Live Sensor, the continued strong pilot interest in the U.S. National Championship, the Women's Nationals and the interest in reviving the Team and Junior National Championships. I feel strongly that this can be continued through keeping an open mind, asking the right questions and thorough communication, including clear expectations and accountability by both the HACD Board and the competition card holders. Aside from my 2+ years serving on the HACD board, my experience holding previous seats on National Balloon Museum committees and holding the roles of VP and President of the Iowa Balloonists Association introduced me to supporting organizations of hot-air ballooning, what makes them successful and where their challenges lie.Outside of ballooning, I am a Sales Vice President for a retirement and insurance company where communication and follow through are required daily to keep relationships and expectations in line, skills that have benefited me in the other roles I’ve held with advocacy organizations outside of work. I am excited for the opportunity to continue the hard work and successful initiatives completed by the HACD and I appreciate your consideration on election day. Please call or text with any questions. Thank you.
